Axalta’s Fast Cure Low Energy technology launches in South Africa
This innovative technology will help bodyshops across South Africa to manage their energy use effectively and efficiently. South Africa has been faced with spiralling energy costs and inflation for many years. Controlling energy costs are firmly at the top of most bodyshop’s agendas.
Lucian Jantjies, Refinish Business Manager for South Africa at Axalta, says, “Businesses have had a lot to grapple with recently, but today high energy costs are at the forefront of bodyshop owners' minds. Fortunately, Axalta Refinish is committed to driving continual technological innovation, with the end goal of making a bodyshop’s entire paint repair journey faster, easier and more profitable. With this in mind, we are incredibly excited to launch our patented and proven Fast Cure Low Energy (FCLE) technology in South Africa. This technology reduces energy consumption in the spraybooth while still achieving the best quality repair. It is exactly what busy bodyshops need.”
Based on Axalta’s revolutionary in-house chemistry that uses both temperature and ambient humidity to accelerate the drying process, the full product system delivers the perfect balance between high speed and low baking energy consumption, while providing the highest quality finish. It is proven to lower the energy costs of running a direct gas-fired combi spraybooth by approximately 75% based on a typical 30 minute, 60oC bake cycle. It is the only refinish system that can be dried at lower baking temperatures, or at air dry temperatures of 20oC, and still have the productivity of traditional systems.
Fast Cure Low Energy technology also allows bodyshops the ability to repair temperature -sensitive electric vehicles, which are growing in popularity. The technology aligns with Axalta’s 2030 Sustainability goals - specifically the goal that states that 80% of Axalta’s new technology and innovation developments will offer customers sustainability benefits. The reduced energy usage delivered by FCLE technology decreases the bodyshop’s carbon footprint by up to 55%, making the technology more sustainable compared to traditional refinish technologies.
This patented technology is offered by Axalta’s three premium global refinish brands, Cromax, Spies Hecker and Standox.
