According to reports across the global media, Dyson - the company famous for its vacuum cleaners - will be moving into the electric vehicle business in the next few years. James Dyson made the announcement first to his employees in an email in late September, but the rumour mill has been busy since the company's mention by British infrastructure grant documents. As one paper titled the story: "we hope it doesn't suck."The car is expected to launch in 2020 and already over 400 members of staff on on the project, with Dyson ""actively recruiting for the team". The company will be investing £2 billion to make it happen. Although it seems like a drastic move to make from home appliances to EV', but Dyson believes that the company's experience with both batteries and electric motors for products such as its hair dryer and cordless vacuum cleaners place them in a good position to progress to electric cars.
Dyson is already involved in developing solid state batteries as is Toyota and James Dyson points out that he has had a keen interest in improving the environment since he developed a particulate filter for diesel exhausts in the early 1990s.
