Fuels Industry Imbizo 2026 sets the stage for SA’s Energy Future
The inaugural Fuels Industry Imbizo 2026 concluded successfully at the Sandton Convention Centre recently, bringing together government leaders, regulators, industry executives, academics, financiers, technology providers, and international experts to engage on the future of South Africa’s fuels and mobility landscape.
Hosted under the theme “Embracing the Future of Energy Mobility”, the two-day conference created a strategic platform for meaningful dialogue at a time when the industry is navigating profound change driven by evolving technologies, regulatory developments, infrastructure requirements, energy security considerations, and the transition to cleaner fuels.
The Imbizo attracted delegates from across the fuels value chain and featured high-level discussions on Clean Fuels II implementation, alternative fuels, electric mobility, infrastructure resilience, fuel pricing, energy security, LPG expansion, biofuels, and the broader energy transition.
Day One: Exploring the Future of Energy Mobility
The first day focused on the transformation of South Africa’s mobility and energy ecosystem. Delegates examined fuel pricing dynamics, infrastructure investment requirements, logistics networks, storage capacity, pipeline resilience, and the growing role of LPG in supporting cleaner and more accessible energy solutions. Discussions also considered the impact of geopolitical developments on global fuel markets and the implications for an import-dependent economy such as South Africa.
Industry leaders highlighted the importance of collaboration between government, regulators, and the private sector to ensure that South Africa remains competitive, secure, and prepared for future market disruptions.
