Hyundai celebrates 25 Years in SA with ‘Hyundai Hunt’

 

Hyundai is celebrating 25 years in South Africa with one of its boldest consumer experiences to date: The Hyundai Hunt, an eight-week, countrywide, gamified adventure that transforms South Africa into a real-world playground of clues, pin drops, rewards and discovery. The Hyundai Hunt invites the public to follow a giant Hyundai pin across four major cities, and stand a chance to win everything from instant prizes to a brand-new Hyundai EXTER.

 

Every two weeks, a new pin drop goes live on Google Maps - starting in Gauteng, and moving to Kwa-Zulu Natal and finally Western Cape. South Africans are encouraged to track down the giant Hyundai pin at iconic locations including:

• Sandton City

• Gateway Mall

• Access Park

 

Participants simply:

1. Locate the pin via the Hyundai microsite.

2. Scan the QR code at the destination.

3. Enter to earn points and unlock prizes.

4. Visit nearby dealerships to redeem spot prizes and keep progressing up the leaderboard.

The digital mechanic is supported by a custom microsite with sign-in, location confirmation, a national and provincial leaderboard, and dealership mapping.

 

Hyundai has layered the hunt with multiple reward tiers to keep excitement building across all eight weeks:

• Daily Spot Prizes (±80 total): Fuel, entertainment vouchers and more.

• Weekly Prizes: R500 vouchers awarded per location.

• Regional Prizes: R10,000 provincial winners.

• Grand Prize: A brand-new Hyundai EXTER at the end of the campaign.

 

Each Hyundai dealership becomes a key “hunting zone” in the national adventure. Dealerships will feature:

• Life-size Hyundai pins

• QR code check-ins

• Looping hero video content

• Spot-prize redemptions

• Selfie moments to drive UGC and social engagement

• Sales opportunities aligned with heightened foot traffic

 

The Hyundai Hunt culminates in March with a live winner announcement, wrap-up content celebrating eight weeks of adventures, and the handover of the Hyundai Exter to one ultimate hunter.
