The 65th staging of the IAA International Commercial Vehicle show takes place from 25 September to 2 October in Hannover, Germany. The number of exhibitors is currently sitting at 2,064, 8% up on the the final figure in 2012, and is expected to still rise. This year's event boasts an exhibition space of almost 265,000 square metres - the largest trade fair site in Germany.
The 2014 staging will focus on future-oriented topics including efficiency, connectivity and flexibility, but job seekers will be catered for as well. IAA organisers highlight the fact that the event is noted as a major recruiting fair, and this year will see the first “job and career” section. In addition, around 30 specialist events will see experts discuss all the relevant forward-looking topics surrounding commercial vehicles. This includes the “classic IAA events” such as the Hazardous Goods Day and the symposium on load securing.
Visitors to the Mercedes-Benz stand will also have an opportunity to witness the truck of tomorrow - the autonomously driving "Future Truck 2025", as well as other state of the art trucks with around 20 vehicles explaining the technology that lies behind the outstanding cost-effectiveness of the new truck generation.
"As a leading manufacturer, we are looking forward to launching a number of these products in our market, which will further solidify our market-leading position. With such an impressive array of vehicles and innovative technology being showcased, we will continue to set the pace in the commercial vehicle industry," said Kobus van Zyl, Executive Director: Daimler Trucks and Bus, Mercedes-Benz South Africa.
