Iveco South Africa and Larimar Group have announced that they will soon inaugurate their joint-venture - Iveco South Africa Works. The latter is a manufacturing facility based in Rosslyn, outside Pretoria, and will celebrate its official opening in November 2014. Medium, heavy and extra-heavy duty commercial vehicles as well as front engine and low floor city buses will be assembled on the premises.
Iveco explains that it started importing, selling and distributing its vehicles in South Africa in 1993, and this is the first time it will manufacture the brand's vehicles in the country. The “Born in South Africa” campaign is being launched to commemorate this milestone event.
The campaign logo depicts a ‘stamp of authenticity’ certifying the quality of the new Iveco commercial vehicles assembled at the new facility, which boasts an all-local workforce. The company explains that the ‘stamp’ encircles the soaring five colours of the South African flag: black, yellow, green, red and blue – which it believes evokes the concept of unity.
Iveco say that all its commercial vehicles bearing this logo will be tailored for the African continent, and all the various terrain and challenging driving conditions that the continent offers.
