MISA’s Legal Department on high alert for AutoZone
The Legal Department of MISA, the Motor Industry Staff Association, is on high alert to assist the Union’s 317 members affected by AutoZone’s voluntary business rescue proceedings.
Martlé Keyter, MISA’s Chief Executive Officer: Operations, says the Union is fully aware of the dire ongoing slump in the retail motor industry due to the 15year record high interest rates and rapid increase in the cost of living. “MISA appreciates AutoZone taking the initiative to protect and secure the business to avoid job losses. One of the Union’s Senior Labour Advisors has been assigned to engage with the Business Rescue Practitioners.
“MISA is positive that no stone will be left unturned to attract potential investors. AutoZone is an established brand name,” says Keyter. In accordance with the business rescue proceedings outlined in the Companies Act, MISA’s members will continue to receive their salaries and any other payments they are entitled to.
MISA will participate in the process to protect the interest of our members and to keep them informed of any developments. AutoZone did not inform MISA prior to filing its Notice beginning Business Rescue Proceedings.
Members of the Union, can contact MISA on 011 476 3920, WhatsApp and SMS on 071 880 9682 or e-mail mailto:legal@ms.org.za.
