MotorFlux and SA Lube empower future Auto Technicians
MotorFlux, an auto repair workshop based in Allens Nek, Johannesburg, in partnership with SA Lube, a distributor of Castrol products, hosted an educational experience for young boys from Jabulani Technical Secondary School in Soweto. The initiative, spearheaded by the Mohato Foundation, led by Neo Mohato, provided hands-on exposure to the world of auto mechanics for Grade 12 students studying the subject as a key part of their curriculum.
The Mohato Foundation is dedicated to grooming and mentoring young people, emphasizing youth empowerment as a strategy for preventing social challenges. Mohato strongly believes in creating equal opportunities for boys and girls, ensuring that young people receive the same level of encouragement and support in their development.
MotorFlux, Director and Lead Technician, Tsehlo Leeto, took the students on an immersive tour of one of the largest auto workshops in the West Rand. Leeto also provided hands-on training and announced an upcoming partnership with Jabulani Technical Secondary School, committing to hosting more students each school term—including young girls who are also studying auto mechanics.
"My passion has always been to equip young people with real-world skills that will set them up for successful careers in the auto industry. By opening our doors to these students, we are not only inspiring the next generation of technicians but also ensuring that they receive the right foundation for future success. This is just the beginning, and we look forward to expanding this initiative to include more learners," said Leeto.
Supporting the event was Xolile Gubayo, Director of SA Lube, who took the opportunity to educate the students on the significance of proper lubrication in vehicle maintenance. To encourage and inspire the students further, SA Lube gifted them with special Castrol-branded items as a token of appreciation for their enthusiasm and participation.
The day’s activities also saw the presence of Andrea Bogner, Regional Chairperson of MIWA, and Ayanda Mbokazi, Director of Buque Auto, a luxury auto dealership. As a special reward, two outstanding students were given an unforgettable experience—a ride in a luxurious vehicle, courtesy of Buque Auto, as recognition for their keen participation.
Facilitating the event, Msuku Media’s Obren Msuku said, "We believe in the power of collaboration to create meaningful impact. This initiative was a perfect example of how industry leaders can come together to shape the future of our youth. Seeing these students engage with professionals and experience the real-world aspects of auto mechanics was truly inspiring."
This event marks the start of a long-term commitment to empowering the youth with practical skills, knowledge, and inspiration to pursue careers in the automotive industry.
