Three weeks into the c2c22 Mission

The c2c22 team have travelled 7200kms and passed through six countries; Botswana, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Malawi, Rwanda and are currently in the capital of Uganda. Clear running so far with no major incidents
Specific themes for this mission focus on identifying the critical needs of Food and Water within African communities in line with Sustainable Development Goals. Also, to raise R5 million for Charity with their sponsors Autobarn and partners Castrol, Sabat, Wynns, Fragram and Philips Automotive Lighting. The destination, Chartwell in the UK, the original home of Sir Winston Churchill and the original home of Land Rover to return the oldest Land Rover on the trip, a 1967 Series 2, with well over 250 000 genuine miles on the clock, nicknamed WINSTON. "This is the first of five c2c missions envisioned to take place by 2030 as part of their support for Africa and working with the youth," said c2c spokesperson Mark McClue.
Autobarn is the leading automotive sponsor for this tough event and has supplied all the crucial tools and equipment with its key Supply Partners for all seven of the classic old model Land Rovers, and is also funding the 3-month, 20 000km trip crossing 3 Continents and 20 Countries.
The first 3-week leg saw them travel up South Africa to Botswana, via Francistown, where they overnighted. The team experience some minor issues on day one, a blowout and a leaking cooling water pipe that were quickly repaired and sorted out by the team and they continued on their way to Botswana, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Malawi, Rwanda and are currently in the capital of Uganda, the total distance travelled to date is 7 200kms.
Incidents to date were the 1970 Land Rover Forward Control series llB named Rocinante, driven by Trevor Stiebel had two slow-motion turnovers in the loose sand and scary terrain in Rwanda, however the team quickly rescued the vehicle.
