Toyota pledges two Genuine Services to winner of iconic Corolla Sprinter
Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) is proud to announce it has topped up the grand prize of the Vodacom Sisonke Siya Winna competition with two Genuine Services and a set of new Dunlop tyres.
This follows an announcement by competition proprietors Vodacom that Kaizer Chiefs die-hard supporter Oteng Mekgwe had won the coveted prize – a Toyota Corolla GLi Twincam Sprinter (aka Kentucky Rounder).
It was only natural for TSAM to get involved considering that Vodacom is the local connectivity partner of Toyota Connect – an integrated connectivity hub that offers the convergence of in-car Wi-Fi and other features across Toyota and Lexus new models bought after third quarter of 2019. In addition, Toyota is currently the official vehicle partner of Kaizer Chiefs Football Club.
Vodacom’s Sisonke Siya Winna campaign was launched to inject some excitement into the 2020/2021 Premier Soccer League Season which mostly played on empty stadia due to COVID-19. The campaign sought to celebrate two iconic cultural symbols that are rooted in the history of Soweto and which are part of the fabric of South African football culture – Kaizer Chiefs and the Kentucky Rounder (Toyota Corolla Twincam).
LA Customs was then contracted by Vodacom to search for a Kentucky Rounder that could be restored and custom-built from scratch in the colours and brand of Kaizer Chiefs for Vodacom’s Sisonke Siya Winna campaign, where one lucky Amakhosi fan will win this iconic car.
“A car that was almost 33 years old but still with a perfect engine says everything about what made the Kentucky Rounder an icon of its day and why it remains such a sought-after car by enthusiasts the world over,” said owner of LA Customs Gino Lange when he found the ideal the Sprinter for restoration.
