TurboDirect SA’s boldest and most successful expansion plan
To expand, grow the business, cater for their new brands/products and manufacturing now all under one roof. The group have moved to Denel Aviation Corner of Denel North Road and Atlas Road Bonaero Park — Unit A03 corner of Airbus and Agusta roads
The new premises is situated in the middle of the Denel Aviation and manufacturing plant – a brand new building kitted out 100% for manufacturing. It measures a whopping 2500SqM with overhead cranes. A new section has been set aside for the latest large frame turbocharger product portfolio which will be announced soon.
“The Manufacturing suits our growth plans going forward and the new brands, product range, along with the recent development, manufacturing and expansion plans perfectly,” said Chris Kambouris Founder and CEO of TurboDirect SA. We have more and more exciting in-house designed products being manufactured and released soon for both the racing and OEM sectors,” said Kambouris
Asked if this huge decision was a wise move after covid and the lockdown that affected all Industries, Kambouris replied. “Yes, it certainly is but we worked hard during this period, innovating, designing, manufacturing and testing the new exciting products and opportunities and it all paid off. The entire new operation is based off the back of the legendary Denel manufacturing operation, and the facility has been designed with manufacturing in mind. We are the first and only turbocharger manufacturer in South Africa. We have added additional CNC machines, and manufacturing equipment and processes, and the QC production line has also been implemented, which is another first for South Africa – to date we are the only South African company who designs and manufactures our own complete turbocharger and related components in-house.”
“Nothing changes in terms of our business operation, products and services, only in that we now have expansion and growth into the manufacturing portfolio while concurrently continuing our day-to-day business, leading the way in turbocharger market, catering for brand new genuine brand product, repairs of all turbochargers, and the supply and wholesale of repair components to the repairers and workshops alike. The very same OE brands like Borg Warner, Mitsubishi, IHI and Garrett, the same identical turbos that are originally fitted to your vehicle at the same low prices are still available directly from the largest master distributor in Africa. The company now has the largest inventory of new International Genuine OE brand turbochargers, as well as the latest repair components that TurboDirect S.A have become synonymous with, all continue as normal,” said Kambouris.
The additional DSR range for Garrett turbochargers, repair parts and core assemblies has taken off extremely well, and this side of the business has grown substantially with hundreds of parts now available at a fraction of the price of the Garrett turbocharger brand and we include a full line of repair components, electronic actuators, and sensors, which is something Garrett has never offered to the industry before, making the DSR (direct service replacement) range unmatched in the industry.
The exciting new coating plant is being setup in the same building which was previously used specifically for the Denel chemical and paint plant previously, this compliments our new international brand “ZyBar coatings” perfectly. Current stock includes over 4000 genuine brand turbochargers and parts, also in stock are well over 2000 TurboDirect DSR turbochargers, with a large range of approximately 3000 repair parts on hand to support all their customers’ requirements.
