WeBuyCars and the RTMC launch groundbreaking Online Registration Solution
WeBuyCars, in collaboration with The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC), launched a groundbreaking solution that will enable online registration of motor vehicles and change of ownership process at the WeBuyCars Dome premises.
This new online platform will allow for a seamless, convenient, and efficient method for motor vehicle dealers and financial institutions to transact directly with Natis, the national traffic information system, without the need for physical handling of documents or visits to registering authorities.
WeBuyCars has become the first private entity to enter the partnership with the RTMCand has launched an online service to register newly-purchased motor vehicles and change of ownership. The system is designed to create a seamless, secure and convenient interface with motor vehicle dealerships and financial institutions, to conduct online vehicle registration and change of ownership transactions directly on the Natis website, without the physical handling of documents and spending time at registering authorities.
Minister of Transport, Sindisiwe Chikunga in announcing the initiative said she was pleased to see this private and public sector partnership. Chikunga outlined the history of the Natis system including the latest technology updates introduced in the system to secure and ease the transcation with the system. This service is only available to approved organisations as Natis users that apply through the RTMC, namely approved financial institutions, insurers and motor dealerships. Natis started in 2007 and in 2016 required enhancements were identified to streamline and further secure the system. Online licensing of vehicles was introduced to the public in 2022, offering vehicle owners convenient access to services from the comfort of their homes 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“The primary objective of this online service is to provide a digital platform that efficiently resolves the current challenges related to the administration for the registration of certificates. The use of the online registration and transfer of ownership has the ability to releive the backlog experienced by registered authorities and empower officials to improve their performance. Since the inception of the online system in excess of 708 000 vehicle licenses have been renewed on the platform.
