WesBank statement - relief measures to help customers impacted by unrest
Spokesperson: Ghana Msibi, CEO of WesBank Vehicle and Asset Finance
Given the effect that the recent protest action and social unrest has had on individuals, businesses and the economy, we find ourselves in really challenging times.
WesBank has evaluated the impact that this has had on its customers, partners, employees and communities in affected areas. In key locations, we have instituted and distributed aid in the form of food and medical supplies and are working in conjunction with the FirstRand Group to offer support to employees in need. Together with FNB, we are also assisting members of the public and businesses who have been impacted in the form of donations to welfare and humanitarian causes providing emergency relief.
We envisage an impact on some of our customers’ ability to meeting their payment obligations, and our partners’ ability to conduct business. We are working tirelessly to support them and have put relief measures in place for both individuals and commercial customers whose accounts were in good standing as at 30 June 2021. Customers who have applied and meet the qualifying criteria, will be granted payment relief based on the products that they hold with WesBank.
